9 key new-industry projects break ground

Construction work for key industrial projects in Songjiang is racing ahead as the business environment in the suburban district constantly improves and officials from the economic development zone offer committed service.

On June 6, nine projects, including Tencent’s Yangtze River Delta artificial intelligence supercomputing center and Sunlord Electronics’ Songjiang company, held their ground-breaking ceremony in the district’s economic development zone.

The nine projects are related to strategic new industries, including advanced equipment, AI, new energy and new material. Among them, the total investment for Tencent’s AI supercomputing center amounts to 45 billion yuan (US$6.35 billion). When completed, the center will become the Yangtze River Delta’s top and among the nation’s Top 3 AI supercomputing center and contribute to Songjiang’s transformation into a smart city. Meanwhile, Tencent will introduce its world-class Keen Security Lab and the company’s high-tech strategic partners to Songjiang.

Sunlord Electronics, a world-leading chip inductor company, is to invest 3.5 billion yuan into its first phase Songjiang base. The base will become a new zenith of the Yangtze River Delta’s auto electronics, fine ceramics, 5G communication and Internet of Things smart manufacturing fields, and contribute to about 100 million yuan in tax revenue yearly when completed.

While a batch of key projects start construction, other projects are about to be completed and put into operation.

The Eastern China Headquarters of Fangda Group in Songjiang will have its production line trial on July 15, according to Li Yuyang, project manager of Shanghai Fangda Qingling Sci-tech Co. The Songjiang headquarters will focus on research & development and production of advanced smart energy-saving curtain wall system and smart railway shield door system.

The Songjiang Economic Development Zone has so far introduced and is serving 36 city-level new industrial projects while continuing to monitor 37 renovation projects. Of these, 13 projects have been completed, 10 have been put into production and the rest will be finished in 1-3 years.

“The Songjiang Economic Development Zone will help to cultivate world-class industries and create a miracle of the G60 High-tech Corridor Vision,” said Yuan Qiukun, the zone’s Party working committee chief.
