Songjiang’s commercial areas are gradually restarting their night markets as the night economy, which saw a dip due to the COVID-19 pandemic, embraces a semblance of recovery.
Commercial plazas in the suburban district, including Songjiang Wanda Plaza and Kaiyuan Med Shopping Mall, have already set up their night markets catering to people of different ages in order to boost the night economy. The night markets provide diverse options, including children’s amusement areas, as well as dining and shopping areas.
“Though we are running a small business, we are confident about the future as the night economy gradually recovers,” said one shop owner.
A popular snack store on Wenhui Road in the district saw customers queuing up in an orderly manner and wearing face masks while buying food.
“As the weather turns warmer and the night economy recovers, our night market business is expected to be even better than last year’s,” said the store owner.
