An exhibition of face masks will open on May 30 at Songjiang’s Xinqiao Art Museum. With free entry, the display will last until June 30.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced people to wear face masks to reduce contagion and breathing in a carefree state of mind has become a bygone story.
The face masks on display, dyed with art works from renowned artists, aim to shift visitors’ attention to their own breathing and invite them to think about the common human physiological function.
The exhibition, with young curator Man Yi as its chief planner, has invited renowned artists, including Xia Yang, Ding Liren, Li Shan and other young artists, as participants. The exhibited items, besides face masks with art designs, also include art installations and painting works.
Visitors, who attend the opening ceremony at 3pm on May 30, will be treated to free crayfish dishes and will have a chance to receive a face mask with art designs as a gift.
