Songjiang’s largest plum blossom park, Baihui Garden, has opened to welcome visitors with 12,000 plum trees.
There are over 30 kinds of plum trees in the garden that will be in full bloom about the middle of February. The blooming season will last until April.
More than 600 trees have been around for more than a century, including a rare species that is already 300 years old.
A Lantern Festival Party will be held on February 8 and 9 when people can have traditional celebrations like guessing lantern riddles and eating sweet dumplings.
The garden is also expanding its plum-related economy, turning the fruit into juice, sauce and wine. A plum picking festival is set to be unveiled in May.
