Wintersweet blooms at Square Pagoda Garden

Wintersweet at the Square Pagoda Garden has entered its blooming season, attracting flocks of visitors despite the freezing conditions, when other flowers are not active.

The garden boasts more than 100 kinds of wintersweet, scattered over several areas around the northern and eastern gates, the dock and the pagoda.

Some of the wintersweet trees were planted more than 30 years ago.

The cold wave that struck Shanghai recently triggered the bloom and the flowers will be in full bloom until the Spring Festival, according to a worker at the garden.
