Shanghai Teenagers Archery Contest kicked off over the weekend at Sijing Primary School in Songjiang.
Around 300 young athletes from 51 primary and middle schools in the city were divided into several age groups.
This year, an event using the traditional bow without the recurve was added to the competition. It requires the competitors to shoot at the distance of 10 meters and poses a higher demand on shooting skills.
Winners of the game brought home 22 gold medals. Songjiang sent 12 students to the competition.
As a campaign to promote traditional culture and sports on campus in the city, Sijing Primary School introduced archery in the year 2014 and it now has 80 young athletes training on the archery event.
