Songjiang has adopted higher standards for agricultural production supervision and products quality control in order to boost exports.
Through its information platform, the district’s entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau has been actively communicating with the export enterprises. Trainings are provided from time to time to give knowledge on technology foreign trade, certificate of origin and fast clearance at the customs.
A system has also been introduced to keep food green and safe from the farming land to the dining table.
Songjiang’s Cangqiao pears hit Hong Kong market in August last year after it became the first local agricultural product with geographical indication. Now, the district’s seafood has also been popular in countries like Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.
“We will continue to build our import-export food safety demonstration zone and explore methods to improve supervision, upgrade produce processing industry and cultivate local brands, so our products will win a bigger share in the global market,” said a director at the district’s entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau.
