A new railway station will be built in Songjiang District, according to a newly released plan for the construction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway.
The planned railway will connect Shangqiu-Hangzhou High-speed Railway with Shanghai and extend 64.6 kilometers within the city.
The station in Songjiang, called Songjiang South Railway Station, will link with Hongqiao Railway Station, Shanghai South Railway Station and later Shanghai East Railway Station. It will be the largest transportation hub in southwestern Shanghai.
Apart from the railways, city metro lines, tram lines and several coach and bus routes will also extend to the new station.
The engineering feasibility study of the station has passed the expert assessment and its construction will kick off after receiving approval from the National Development and Reform Commission.
