The Southern Branch of Shanghai General Hospital in Songjiang successfully airlifted a senior patient for emergency treatment last week. It’s the first such case handled by the district hospital.
A 73-year-old Shanghai resident passed out in Wuhu, Anhui Province on November 23, a city 315 kilometers away from Songjiang, after she was choked by food at her son’s home there. The patient was in serious condition due to her old age and other medical complications. So, her relatives decided to transfer her to Shanghai for treatment.
They called the air rescue hotline to send a helicopter. The patient was then transported to the Songjiang hospital after one hour and 40 minutes of flight.
The Southern Branch of Shanghai General Hospital in Songjiang set up its air medical rescue team in October this year. All the 14 members of the team have received both theory and professional training.
