Cycling races attract 590 amateurs of different nationalities

A PBP cycling event kicked off in Songjiang on Saturday as part of the 2017 Shanghai Amateur Games.

PBP is a long-distance cycling event, originally a 1,200km race from Paris to Brest and back to Paris. It is one of the oldest cycling events held around the world.

A crowd of 590 participants set out from the foot of Sheshan Hill at 5:30am on Saturday morning. They included people from Belgium, France, Britain, the US, and Austria.

The participants were competing in 400km race (27 hours), 200km race (13.5 hours) and 100km race (7 hours).
