TUS-Caohejing Science Park, the biggest of innovation parks along Songjiang G60 Sci-tech Corridor, launched its second-phase construction recently with a total investment of 10 billion yuan (US$1.45 billion) for the whole project.
The project covers 4.2 hectares of land and will have buildings totaling 110,000 square meters in floor space. It is due for completion before the end of 2018. Other features include a flower gallery, a waterside plank road, a conference hall for 300 people, and an underground parking facility with access to offices.
The park administration has made a plan to attract companies in new energy, green car, and medical equipment industries. So far, over 100 businesses in smart manufacturing, environmental protection, IT, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment industries have moved to the park.
Songjiang Party Secretary Cheng Xiangmin said: “Local economy should follow the national development strategy to ensure future growth.”
Songjiang is taking advantage of the 11 universities and colleges in the district to develop high-tech parks and switch from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing, he added.
Work on the park’s third phase, about 7.7 hectares in size along Guangfulin Road, will start in November. The land has been secured through bidding.
