Renovation to give old quarters of Songjiang a new look

Songjiang is renovating old neighborhoods in a project that will benefit 38,000 families. Workers are upgrading six urban villages and 58 rundown communities and restoring six historic blocks. The project is set to finish before the end of 2020.

So far, 5,071 of the 6,273 affected households have signed relocation contracts to make way for the renovation project. District authorities have prepared new homes for dislodged families.

The renovation of urban villages, totaling 118.2 hectares, is proceeding smoothly with 1,373 rural homes agreeing to relocate elsewhere.
