Education Overview in Songjiang District
Songjiang District, located in the southwest of Shanghai, is known as "the root of Shanghai, the top of Shanghai, the head of Pujiang, the city of gardens, and the home of universities". In recent years, under the strong leadership and support of the District Party Committee and the District people's government, Songjiang's education system has adhered to the concept of "fairness, balance, quality, and openness", worked hard to strengthen its foundation, build higher platforms, and scale new heights, and done a good job in managing resources, teams, and quality, so as to promote the modernization of the education system in all respects and make it satisfactory to the people of Songjiang.
As of September 2020, Songjiang had 271 schools and education institutions, including 156 kindergartens (62 public ones and 94 private ones), 85 primary and secondary schools (60 public ones, 24 private ones, and 1 for special education), 19 vocational and adult schools (13 adult schools, 4 secondary vocational schools, Shanghai Open University, and the Institute of Education), and 11 other public education institutions. Public schools had 14,924 staff members and full-time schools had 162,600 students.
